Most applicants outside Delhi and Mumbai have to explain a connection. Amritsar often does not. ATQ — Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International has genuine long-haul links to the UK, built on decades of Punjabi migration to the Midlands and London, and that makes a departure from Amritsar credible on a British visitor file in a way it would not be from most other Indian cities.
It is a small advantage and worth using properly. A reservation that starts where you live, on a route that actually exists, is one less thing for a caseworker to reconcile.
Visiting family is a different application, not an easier one
A large share of files from this region are family-visit applications rather than tourism, and they get judged on different things. The itinerary matters less. The relationship, the invitation, the host’s status and who is paying matter more.
The document that trips people up is accommodation. Applicants assume that because they are staying with a brother in Wolverhampton, they need no accommodation proof at all — and then the itinerary shows four nights in Edinburgh and three in London that the invitation letter says nothing about. Those nights still have to be accounted for.
The working rule: the invitation covers the nights at the host’s address. Every other night in the trip needs a booking. A file that leaves a gap is not dishonest, but it is incomplete, and incomplete is what gets queried.
Where a Schengen trip changes the shape
For the UK, ATQ works. For the Schengen Area, there is usually no direct option from Amritsar, so the realistic journey runs through Delhi or a Gulf hub. That is completely normal and needs no apology on a file — connections are how most of the world flies.
What it does change is the insurance question. A Schengen file needs medical cover of at least €30,000 valid across the whole area for the whole stay, and that is a hard threshold rather than a suggestion. A UK visit has no equivalent mandatory cover, so an applicant doing both in one trip should not assume one policy satisfies both purposes without checking what it actually says.

Depending on the destination, applicants from here submit at a centre in Amritsar, in Chandigarh, or in Delhi. Several missions run a northern-region jurisdiction that does not map neatly onto the nearest city, and those boundaries are reassigned from time to time.
