What is a flight reservation for a visa?
A booking made in an airline’s reservation system and held under a real booking booking reference, with your name, the flights and the dates on it. Everything is in place except ticketing — the step where the full fare gets paid.
That missing step is why it costs ₹399 incl. GST for the first traveller rather than the price of a seat, and why it still shows the consulate a concrete travel plan.
Is it a real ticket, a dummy ticket or a fake PDF?
It is a real reservation held with the airline, but not a paid ticket. Three products get sold under the same names, and only the first two are real:

Is a flight itinerary for a visa the same thing?
Usually, yes. Schengen consulate checklists ask for a round-trip flight reservation or itinerary, and both words point at the same evidence: the flights you plan to take, with dates, held in your name. The reservation is the booking that backs those dates.
A day-by-day plan of where you will be is a different document that some checklists also ask for — we prepare that as a visa itinerary.
How long does the reservation stay valid?
Typically between 48 hours and several days. The airline sets that window as the ticketing time limit for the fare, so no seller can stretch it; we tell you the expected validity for your booking in the chat.

Should I get it before or after booking my visa appointment?
After. Book the appointment, then have the reservation issued to fit it. The reservation fixes your arrival and departure dates, so the hotel booking and the insurance are then bought against those same dates and cannot drift apart.
Getting it weeks early is the commonest mistake: a hold that has quietly lapsed by the appointment leaves a reference that no longer leads anywhere.
How does pricing work for a couple, family or group?

My travel dates changed. What happens to the reservation?
Ask for a new reservation on the new dates and submit that one — we re-issue it free. Never edit the document you already have: an altered PDF no longer matches the airline’s record.
Move the dates on your application form, hotel booking and insurance at the same time. The file is read as one story, and the documents have to agree.
Does the airline mind me holding a seat I might not fly?
No. Holding a booking before ticketing is an ordinary part of how airlines sell seats, and there is no “visa” flag on it. Each fare carries a ticketing time limit so that an unpaid booking releases itself and the seat goes back on sale — that limit is why holds expire.
A flight reservation describes the planned route, dates and traveller names. It is separate from a paid flight ticket. Ask the team to confirm the arrangements for your application.
Do I need a flight reservation for a US visa?
No — and the answer flips depending on the destination:

No, and no document can. The embassy or consulate decides, weighing your purpose, funds, ties and travel history together.
A reservation does one narrow job well: it gives the officer a concrete travel plan and removes one avoidable doubt from your file. Be wary of anyone who promises more.
